One of the long term goals for the MRPS is the restoration of the Rail Line between Moorooduc and Baxter. This line requires upgrading an re-establishment of sleepers and ballast. It is a major project. Our current plans are for the restoration in two parts:-
- The Line to Sumner Road by late 2012, and
- The Line to Baxter Station (not yet schedlued)
The Sumner Road portion is planned as follows:
- Slash grass and trim vegetation (ongoing)
- Acquire Sleepers - completed 2010
- Spray Weeds on track - scheduled for 2011
- Straighten buckled sections - 2012
- Pin Railway Track to Works Trolley Standard - 2012
- Restore Railway Track to Slow Speed Transfer Standard - 2012
- Restore Railway Track within Peninsula Link Freeway Alignment (by Abi group at completion of freeway works)
The remainder of the restoration would be as follows:
- Slash grass and trim vegetation.
- Pin Railway Track to Works Trolley Standard.
- Restore Railway Track to Slow Speed Transfer Standard.
