K163 HISTORY
Built at Newport in 1941.
Declared unserviceable in December 1968, at Ararat.
Sold to Frankston Apex Club in November 1973.
Sold to Mornington Railway Preservation Socitey in 1984.
Boiler Certificate granted while in Jubilee Park, Frankston in July 1985.
Moved to Cresco sidings, Hastings in November 1985.
Moved under its own power in August 1986, driven by the late Alan Blatchford and Fireman, Ron Picking.
Fully restored in May 1987. Willy Trueman as Team Leader. In service for the Mornington Preservation Society, on the main line at Cerberus and Moorooduc since that time.
K163 was fully overhauled in 2010 and fitted with the restored boiler from K191 by members of the Mornington Railway Engineering team headed by Gerald Spoor and Peter Reyment.
