RESTORATION PROJECTS

Steam Loco K163

In 2009 and 2010 our Engineering Team performed a major overhaul of this locomotive including complete restoration of a boiler, main bearings, brakes and safety gear. The project was completed in 19 months and involved our volunteers in 12,000 manhours of labour. The team was ably managed by Gerald Spoor and Peter Reyment. This effort is very much appreciaited by the Railway.

Steam Loco K177

Locomotive K177 is the next to be restored and work has already commenced. At January 2011, the boiler renovation was begun, a new ash pan has been commenced, the chassis is ready and materials are being gathered in preparation for assembly.

Van 20Z

20Z has been fully renovated during 2010 and is now inservice to replace 604ZD which ha been moved to the workshop for renovation.

Van 604ZD

604ZD has been fully restored and placed into service. This van was originally 604Z and was built new in NSW in 1928. It was converted to 604ZP in 1960, and then to 604ZD in 1976.

TRACK Work

The Railway Line between Moorooduc and Baxter is one of our long term goals, restricted only by funds and availability of volunteer labour. Our current plans provide for reconditioning the track between Moorooduc and Sumner Road as the first step in our long term goal.

Signal Box

The Heritage Signal Box has been aquired from Somerton and is now installed ready for final interior renovation for public inspection and possibly for use in switching points and signals in out yard

Station House

A New Station House is planned, however due to availability of resources this remains one of our long term goals.

Miscelanoeus Items

We have various historical items on view at the Mooroduc Station Platform, such as luggage trolleys, signal levers, weigh scales and a trolley jack that was used in a Locomotive Pit for raising and lowering wheel sets.

Ticket Office

We have recently aquired 364ZL for the purposes of renovating for use as our Ticket Office at Moorooduc Station to replace the existing Caravan
